I don’t know if you were one of the millions of fans of Dr. Wayne Dyer, but I was deeply saddened to hear about his passing last Sunday.
Though I didn’t know him personally I received so much from his books, talks and even following him on social media.
When I heard the news from my friend Lila and saw his family’s confirmation on Twitter I felt as if the world lost one of our most beautiful souls.
Like millions of people around the world, Dr. Wayne Dyer inspired me to my core.
There’s no shortage of profound things he said but hands-down the quote that most changed my life is, “You’ll see it when you believe it.”
Like many of us, before hearing this I’d only known the opposite, “I’ll believe it when I see it!”
When I first heard Dr. Wayne Dyer say, “You’ll see it when you believe it.” I said to myself, “YES!!”
Ding, ding, ding – bells went off in my head and light bulbs flashed.
After that I became hyper aware of what myself and others believed was possible for our lives.
I found that many of us go about our days wanting good things and knowing they’re possible for others, but not believing we deserve them too.
Whether it’s the side of town we grew up, our weight, level of education, eating habits, drinking habits, or any of the shoulda-woulda-coulda past mistakes we’re still punishing ourselves for, we think we have to be better, or more than we are right now in order to have whatever it is we want.
But thankfully, that’s not true.
We’re all worthy and deserving of love, happiness, perfect health, a kick-ass business, making a great living doing what we love and living our dream lives.
Everything we desire we deserve just because we’re alive.
If you find yourself struggling with feelings of unworthiness or feeling undeserving you may find this affirmation especially helpful:
“I’m worthy and deserving of ____________.”
Repeat it out loud with conviction 10 times daily.
If you have a pestering voice in your head that challenges you and says things like, “Haha, no, you’re not.” Or, “Why do you deserve that?” Have a little chat with that voice or respond by writing a letter.
Remember, there’s no need to defend or explain any more than you deserve it simply because you’re alive and desire it. With repetition and patience we can all get there.
After all, it’s not like any of us question if we’re worthy and deserving of turning on our computers or phones and connecting to the Internet from almost anywhere in the world (even flying 40,000 feet in the air).
Nope, we expect it.
So why wouldn’t we believe we deserve love, money, good health, making a living doing what we want and overall happiness?
The thing is, we don’t have to be thinner, smarter, have a perfect relationship, or even work harder in order to deserve good things.
We deserve the very best right now.
But we have to believe it in order to receive it.
