I spent quite a bit of time over the weekend cozying up reading as a much-appreciated storm swept through California.

One thing I came across inspired me to my core and I wanted to share it with you:

“Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.”

– Marianne Williamson, A Return to Love

It’s surprising how many of us are more afraid of success than we are of failure.

How many of us fear attention more than the lack of.

I understand and too have felt the same in my own life, but like Marianne Williamson says, our playing small doesn’t serve the world. As we let our own light shine, we give other people permission to do the same.

What a beautiful gift!

If you feel you’re not showing up in this world as you’re meant to, or you’re ready to be a braver, stronger, more potent light I can’t think of a more important time than now to step up and play bigger.

Whether it’s through your work or simply by being who you are, it’s imperative to share your messages and gifts with those who need and want to know about them.

You may not realize it but you’re capable of making a positive difference in the lives of others and in this world.

You’re meant to allow all the greatness of who you are and what you offer to shine through and touch those around you and beyond.

Even if it doesn’t feel like it.

As Marianne Williamson said, we may ask ourselves, “Who am I to be brilliant, talented, and great?”

When the truth is, who are we not to be?
