Hi Friends,
It’s hard to believe we’re halfway through 2020. What a surreal year it’s been. When the clock struck midnight kicking off the New Year, I don’t think any of us could’ve predicted where 2020 would take us.
The past months have been packed with so much uncertainty — oh, and trying to make plans for when you can get your hair done or visit relatives has been nearly impossible!
In March my plans for moving to Kauai were paused — then unpaused — then paused again. Same with Savvy Miss’ EveryDay Happy Show podcast that I’m so excited about hosting (and I’ll let you know as soon as it goes live later this month). But WOW — it’s all been a major lesson in practicing patience, releasing control and learning how to go with the flow.
This year has also taught me the importance of living in the moment, letting go of worries and having faith.
Chances are this year hasn’t gone the way you expected it would either, so today, I want to share with you a few things I’m doing at this mid-way point to help make the rest of 2020, the best of 2020.
After all, like Marilyn Monroe said, “Sometimes good things fall apart so even better things can come together.”
1. I’m taking inventory of the year so far. This is an amazing exercise and all you have to do is gift yourself a few minutes of “Me Time” to check-in and ask yourself a few questions:
- “What, so far, has happened to me in 2020?”
- “What silver linings can I find in the midst of all of the crazy?”
- “What have I learned about myself, others and life this year?”
- “What am I most proud of myself for doing, being, learning or understanding this year?”
2. I’m revising my top goals for 2020. If you’re like me, not all of your original goals are even possible right now. (I’ll see you in 2021 Greece!). Or, they may not be a good fit anymore. Many of us are reconsidering priorities and re-evaluating what’s truly important to us — and what mattered to you on January 1st may not matter the same to you now.
Gift yourself a few minutes and decide on your ‘new and improved’ 2020 goals. Write them down on a piece of paper and put it some place you’ll see it every day.
Life’s detours often guide us to beautiful destinations. So even when it doesn’t feel like it, try to have faith and trust that everything’s working out for you.
You’re resilient and wonderful things are in store. 🙂
Sending love and smiles,
P.S. I recently changed my “Word for 2020” to FAITH. I find it so helpful to have a word to keep at the forefront of my mind of something I’m working on or need to be reminded of.
Here are a few words that may be a good fit for you!
RESILIENCE, ACCEPTANCE, ADAPTABILITY, SELF-LOVE, RELAX, PEACE, EASE, LOVE, EQUANIMITY, BALANCE, INTEGRITY, EMPOWER, BALANCE.
